Two polarized Filters are used, a rectangular Yellow one and a Blue polygonal filter.
The Yellow filter was chosen to enhance the clarity during day light driving. Also eliminates 100% Uv up to 400nm.
The Blue filter was chosen for its property to eliminate 96% of blue rays (while keeping within the requirements of the
traffic police.)
Both these filters were chosen to conform to the recommendation of the American Optometric Association
(AoA) to its members. Both Uv and blue rays have been linked to retinal damage. Schepen Eye Research Inst. " ….. that blue
rays seem to accelerate the onset of Age related Macular Degeneration.(AMD)". Apparently it is in the increase.
Treatment is expensive and can only hopefully stop any further deterioration. The final outcome is blindness.

Using the optical properties of both the polarized filters, a seamless variable tint device was created.
Glare as seen with the naked eye.
As seen through the rectangular Yellow Filter only.
As seen through the Yellow and Polygonal Blue Filters. Notice that the sun is absolutely
subdued and the van pleasantly visible without being excessively bright.
-
Because the lower asembly can be moved laterally towards the rear vision mirror, it can be used
to block the rays of the sun coming from behind the rear vision mirror, especially from the bottom
edge of the mirror - that is approximately on the same level as the driver's eye.
The car's sun visor can be tilted atfer the filter assembly is exended, to help obtain the desired effect.
-
Provision has been made to accommodate both tall as well as shorter driver. The Filter Assembly is
able to move horizontally seamlessly , away from and towards the driver.
-
Because the Yellow Rectangular Filter and the Blue Polygonal Filter are attached by Rare Earth Magnets
they can quite easily be taken off to facilitate cleaning. Both can be take off in 5 seconds.
-
An optional extra Rectangular HAZE filter is offered that takes the place of the Yellow Rectangular Filter.
This filter is not polarized and is fixed, ie., it cannot move sideways. It is only used during dull and hazy
days or during twilight hours. It serves to brighten the view. It is not recommended for night driving.
Uvf is so effective it can even subdue the direct rays of the sun which can then be viewed comfortably.
NOTE:
- the sun's direct rays are contained & isolated within the Polygonal Filter.
- the subdued sun can actually be comfortably seen by the naked eye.
- the clarity of the surrounding scenery on the side of the glare has not been unduly affected.
- the view just beneath the glare but within the Yellow Filter is clearer than that beneath the Yellow Filter.
